As of February 15, 2012 the last of the Food Lion Supermarkets in Volusia and Flagler County will be closed. The last Flagler Beach store on Route 100 closed in 2009. In addition to the Ormond Beach store at 101 E. Granada, stores in New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange are also closing. There were a total of 8 stores in the Volusia and Flagler market at one time. After February 15, 2012 there will be none. The Food Lion chain is owned by a Brussels,

Belgium

based company who has indicated the need to close underperforming locations.

The event is scheduled for January 28^th and 29^th, 2012 at the Flagler palm coast high school campus on route 100 from 9am to 4pm.

Hundreds of local businesses will be show casing their goods and services. You will also find local artist with hand made items, a food court with lots of local goodies, a health fair with free screening and lectures and lots of great entertainment while you browse.

Admission is free and their will be lots of free parking.

Effective July 1,2011 Ocean View Condominium Rental Group Inc. has made significant changes to begin offering an accidental rental damage insurance plan through Travel Guard.

A $25 non-refundable fee is now required for each reservation. This will purchase an accidental rental damage insurance policy. The damage waiver does not cover theft, gross negligence, willful or wanton conduct, intentional damage, lost keys, swimming pool passes, club cards or gate cards, excessive wear and tear, unauthorized late check-outs, pets, smoking, or any other violation of our rental policies.

The ARDI plan is replacing the security deposit that was held during and following the vacation rental. The initial security deposit can now be applied toward the balance of rent due at the final payment and there is no longer a need for us to keep that amount on your credit card once the final reservation payment is made.

Vacation Rental Policies Effective July 1, 2011

1. A $25.00 service charge applies to all changes and cancellations to a reservation.

2. The reservation deposit is not refundable for cancellations within 30 days of your scheduled arrival date.

3. A $25 damage waiver fee is required with all reservations. This will purchase the accidental rental damage

Insurance plan from Travel Guard and eliminates the need for us to hold your initial deposit.

4. All payments must be made in full 30 days prior to scheduled arrival.

5. Cancellations within 30 days of scheduled arrival will not receive a refund unless the unit reserved is re-rented

for the time period reserved. An administration fee of 20% will be deducted from the refund. *

6. Your signature is required prior to arrival on a statement agreeing to our rental policies and any applicable condo

rules & regulations. Access to the property cannot be provided without this signature.

7. No refunds for early departures. *

8. The cost of repair or replacement for any damages, phone charges, and items missing from the property will be

deducted from the security deposit or otherwise collected from the tenant as provided by Florida statute.

9. Many of our properties cannot accommodate trucks, tractors, trailers & other oversized vehicles. Approval for

any vehicle other than a passenger automobile must be obtained in writing in advance of arrival.

10. No Check - Ins after 3 PM unless arranged prior to arrival. Guaranteed late arrival fee of $25.00 applies.

11. Check in time is 3 PM. Earlier check in on your scheduled arrival date may be permitted, if the property is ready.

12. Check out time is 10 AM.

13. Maximum occupancy is 6 persons for a 2 bedroom, 8 persons for a 3 bedroom .

14. Pets are never allowed in condominium rental units.

15. There is NO Smoking in any vacation rental condos or houses.

16. Reservations for specific units or floor locations cannot be guaranteed. We will do our

best to accommodate requests, but we must reserve the right to re-assign units.

17. All reservations are confirmed on first come, first serve basis.

18. Monthly rentals that begin the first day of the month must depart the last day of that month.

19. Ocean Shore Blvd. is located between many of the condominium buildings and the Atlantic Ocean. This will not

be an acceptable reason for cancellation or refunds.

20 Lockout charge of $50 unless during office hours.

21. Late arrival is not an acceptable reason for cancellation, refunds, or changes to scheduled departure. *

22. Minor maintenance items or requests that are usually $5.00 or less (i.e. light bulbs, a/c filters, etc.) are the

responsibilities of the tenant.

23. Subletting is not permitted.

24. Race week and Bike week rates are a minimum of $215 to $275 per day for 2 bedroom/8 day minimum

25. Rates are subject to change without notice.

26. Must be 25 years of age to make reservations.

27. No refunds will be given for equipment, appliances, or utility failures. We cannot guarantee the appliances, equipment, and utilities. We will make every effort to repair any failures as soon as possible but no refunds.

28. $50 fee if all keys are not returned to Ocean View Condominium Rental Group, Inc.

29. All payments are deposited in an interest-bearing account with all interest to accrue to Ocean View.

Beach Cafe is a vendor that is there most days around 11 AM until 3 or 4 PM weather permitting, sometimes earlier and sometimes later. The local hangout has quite an assortment of sports memorabilia and autographed pictures of sports legends and historical photos that line the interior and add to the ambience. The restaurant has been closed since April 2010, due to the previous owner bankruptcy and foreclosure. The new owners, Lillian and Doug Rand of DeLand have cleaned and painted the interior and tried to restore the old feel of Billy's Tap Room & Grill. Are you musically inclined? Bring YOUR instrument and play along in a circle in the Jam Tent where the the main goal is PARTICIPATION and involvement.

New Watering Restrictions in Ormond Beach Florida Lawn and landscape irrigation in Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach and the rest of Volusia County have new restrictions in place.
Beginning March 13, 2011 new watering restrictions took effect for the 18 counties within the jurisdiction of the St. Johns River Water Management District. Watering is only allowed 2 days per week and only before 10 AM or after 4 PM. When daylight savings time ends watering is only allowed 1 day per week.

The Aid and Attendance Special Pension benefit was designed for those who need the Aid and Attendance of another person in performing their daily living activities, are severely visually impaired; or are permanently housebound.
This is a tax free benefit for senior veterans and their spouses. My understanding of this means tested benefit is that all wartime veterans over 65 years old qualify as long as the medical necessity is present. You do not need to be retired from the military to qualify, just honorably disharged.
